The New 2027 Infiniti QX65 SUV Is Inspired By The FX

By Tyler Rampersaud –  March 27, 2026

Infiniti Reveals All-New 2027 QX65 SUV

In the 2000s, Infiniti transformed the luxury SUV landscape with the introduction of its FX model. With sleek and sporty fastback styling and driver-focused performance engineering, the FX was cemented as one of the most iconic and successful models in the Infiniti lineup. Now, Infiniti is undergoing a transformation with a new generation of its flagship model, the QX80, which features a thoroughly updated design, an available Klipsch audio system, and many more features that have it competing with some of the most desirable luxury SUVs currently on the market. Much of that same luxury and updated design is now coming to a brand new nameplate for Infiniti, the QX65, which is looking to the FX as a source of inspiration for its design. The new QX65, like the FX of the past, features a fastback design that combines SUV practicality with a sporty silhouette. Powered by Infiniti’s VC Turbo engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, the new 2027 Infiniti QX65 boasts 268 horsepower and 286 lb/ft of torque, which is sent through a 9-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels through standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. Inside, the QX65 features available features like a Klipsch audio system with up to 20 speakers in the Autograph trim, massaging seats, open-pore wood trim, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a motion-activated tailgate, and more. Like the QX80, the Individual Audio feature uses headrest-mounted speakers to isolate audio to the front passenger or driver if need be. Exterior design features like 21-inch wheels and a black painted roof, both available for the Autograph trim, add an elevated sense of luxury craftsmanship, as well. <- Gallery -> The vehicle’s launch color is Sunfire Red, which is inspired by a similar limited-edition color that was available on the Nissan GT-R, Regal Red. With a three-layer finish and genuine gold-coated glass flecks, the color features flashes of gold that create a dynamic shine that contributes to its sporty aesthetic. Offering a new luxury SUV with a sporty design inspired by the legendary FX, the new Infiniti QX65 is an all-new Infiniti that is dressed to impress. Infiniti Reveals 1,000HP QX80 R-Spec With GT-R NISMO Engine

The Godzilla’s spirit possesses Infiniti’s flagship SUV. The latest generation of the Infiniti QX80 marked an exciting new era for the luxury SUV flagship. State-of-the-art audio, sumptuous features, high-tech convenience, and beautiful design have made it a solid competitor in the highly contested arena of full-size luxury SUVs, and concept versions of it have been displayed at events throughout the automotive world, showcasing its potential to be a versatile flagship offering. A new build set to be showcased at the 2025 SEMA show brings a vision of a performance-oriented version of the QX80 to life. Teased earlier as the “QX80 R-Spec,” enthusiasts anticipated that it might feature the powertrain of the now-discontinued Nissan GT-R. Those rumblings have now been confirmed as Infiniti fully reveals the QX80 R-Spec, which features the VR38DETT engine derived from the enthusiast-favorite Nissan GT-R NISMO. Rather than the 600 horsepower that the GT-R NISMO offered, however, the Infiniti QX80 R-Spec’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine boasts a tuned 1,000 horsepower, making it far more extreme and powerful than the Track Spec concept that was shown at this year’s Monterey Car Week. It gets that power thanks to custom turbochargers, intercoolers, exhaust manifolds, and an upgraded fuel system, and to complement that immense brawn, the vehicle also features carbon ceramic brakes derived from the GT-R, a custom coilover suspension, bronze 24-inch wheels as a nod to the GT-R, and a custom body kit. Inspired by the GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition, the QX80 R-Spec was given a custom body kit and a color-shifting exterior wrap resembling the iconic Midnight Purple color that was originally made famous on the legendary R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R. With stunning GT-R inspired looks, and the muscle to match under the hood, the new Infiniti QX80 R-Spec from Infiniti is a refreshing, exciting, and radical reimagination of the brand’s captivating flagship luxury SUV. Infiniti Teases Possible GT-R-Powered QX80 For SEMA

Is Infiniti giving its flagship SUV the Godzilla treatment? Nissan’s luxury division, Infiniti, has been known for its performance-oriented models that combine luxurious design with compelling powertrains and spirited driving character. However, the latest generation of its flagship SUV, the QX80, got its first-ever Sport grade for the 2026 model year, along with a track-focused concept that was showcased during Monterey Car Week. As this year’s SEMA show approaches, Infiniti is preparing to show another exciting build of the QX80, this time possibly wielding the power of the Nissan GT-R. Now discontinued, the Nissan GT-R was the culmination of one of the automotive industry’s most storied legends, the legacy of Skyline GT-R models known as “Godzilla,” and revered for their innovative all-wheel drive and powerful six-cylinder engines. Despite not being sold in the United States, the reputation of the Skyline GT-R was still respected by American car enthusiasts, with its iconic appearances in 2Fast2Furious and countless racing video games. Teased as an Infiniti QX80 “R-spec” build to be revealed at SEMA, with a style of badging incredibly reminiscent of the GT-R, the build could possibly be a QX80 with the powertrain of the GT-R, which in its most recent form was a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 565 horsepower, and 600 horsepower in the NISMO variant. In its teaser announcement, Infiniti says that its return to SEMA will be “a bold blend of muscle and elegance,” and that “the legend lives under the hood,” strongly suggesting a connection to the GT-R lineage. INFINITI’s flagship SUV is reimagined with more power. It wouldn’t be the first time that the GT-R’s engine has landed in an SUV, with Nissan’s past compact SUV, the Juke, getting the engine in the form of the wild, few-off Juke-R. It also would sit alongside an existing performance SUV in the Nissan lineup, the Nissan Armada NISMO, which has a smaller 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers 460 horsepower. Whatever the case, an Infiniti QX80 build that has the discontinued GT-R’s beating heart under the hood would be an incredibly enticing prospect for enthusiasts, and if that’s what’s coming to SEMA this year, the anticipation is building. Infiniti’s 2025 Monterey Showcase: QX80 and QX65 SUV Conc...

Monterey Car Week is always a proving ground for bold new concept cars, and this year was no exception. Japanese luxury brands were in full force. Lexus rolled out its Sport Concept coupe, Acura showcased the RSX Prototype, and Infiniti followed suit with not one, but three SUVs that demand attention: the QX80 Track Spec, QX80 Terrain Spec, and QX65 Monograph, with each concept answering a different question about what luxury SUVs can be. Now, for some context, Infiniti added a new SPORT Grade to its 2026 QX80 lineup last week. This Track Spec appears to build on that. Besides the name itself, the QX80 Track Spec immediately conveys its sporty intent. Matte black-blue wrap, massive 24-inch wheels, fender flares, and quad exhausts.  The powerful capability and confident control of the all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80 is elevated with two provocative concept vehicles. Revealed at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, QX80 Track Spec represents INFINITI’s interpretation of the ultimate street performance SUV, evolving the sleek and purposeful QX80 into a more thrilling, focused performance machine. QX80 Terrain Spec offers overlanding enthusiasts the ability to securely venture nearly anywhere – in levels of comfort and sophistication unknown in most off-roaders. As for performance, Infiniti engineers were able to extract over 650 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo 3.5-liter VR35DDTT twin-turbo V6, which, for some context, is roughly a 50 percent increase over the stock powerplant. For reference, the aforementioned SPORT Grade QX80 packs 450 horsepower. The increase in power was achieved with upgraded turbochargers, a higher-capacity intercooler, new fuel injectors, ram air intake, and freer-flowing exhaust, turning the QX80 into the brand’s most powerful SUV ever. Brembo brakes ensure this performance can be tamed.  At the opposite end of the spectrum, sitting alongside the Track-spec was the QX80 Terrain Spec, which completely flips the script. Raised suspension, all-terrain tires, rugged fender flares, and protective covers showcase readiness for serious off-road action. Roof-mounted lights, a pop-up tent, and side-exit exhaust showcase this SUV’s practicality and durability. Invisible Hood View and the 3D Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection give real-time awareness of rocks and obstacles, long before you reach them. Finally, Infiniti also teased its vision for the highly competitive midsize luxury segment with the QX65 Monograph. Its fastback roofline, pushed-to-the-corner wheels, and dramatic Twilight color-shifting paint are attention-grabbing. Every element, from the aircraft-inspired taillights to the textured bamboo-like grille, is a sign of Infiniti’s future design direction.  All three concepts reflect Infiniti’s strategy to explore two customer mindsets: those seeking heart-pounding on-road performance and those craving confident off-road capability, while advancing its fast-to-market design philosophy.  Infiniti is betting that you want SUVs that engage every sense, whether on asphalt, dirt, or simply parked in your driveway.  Could a vehicle like the QX80 Terrain Spec replace a traditional overlanding rig without sacrificing comfort?  Land Rover and Lexus have managed to do so with models like the Defender, Range Rover Sport and the Lexus LX 600, have successfully managed to do it. The real question is whether Infiniti can now replicate the same, and if production versions of these concepts can capture this delicate balance of capability and luxury in a single comprehensive package. Infiniti Reveals The All-New 2025 QX80 With Klipsch Audio...

Infiniti reimagines its flagship luxury SUV. The Infiniti QX80 has spent years serving as the Japanese luxury brand’s flagship SUV, with its large presence and iconic silhouette. However, a new generation of the luxury flagship has been long overdue, and it’s finally here for the 2025 model year. With futuristic design inspired by Infiniti’s Japanese heritage, and a role as the beginning of Inifiniti’s “product renaissance,” the new 2025 Infiniti QX80 has been revealed, and it marks a turning point for the manufacturer. The 2025 QX80 introduces new design language for Infiniti inspired by the QX Monograph concept, bringing forth cleaner, sleeker lines, a large grille, slim front lighting, and full-width rear lighting composed of 300 LEDs. A new paint color, Dynamic Metal, was developed over six years to evoke the idea of liquified metal, with metallic flakes that lay flat for a smooth texture and an appearance that shifts in the light. With sleek, flush-mounted door handles, Infiniti introduces the available Light Path, a feature in which, when the vehicle is approached with the key fob, passengers are welcomed by the door handles extending, and a light projection being displayed on the ground, among other touches. The Infiniti Light Path feature previews the luxurious interior, which features soft-touch materials, available open-pore wood trim, and two 14.3-inch infotainment displays, with a separate 9-inch touchscreen just for climate control and drive mode selection. The new flagship trim level for the QX80 is dubbed the “Autograph,” featuring a two-tone roof, 22-inch wheels, quilted semi-aniline leather, and ash wood trim. Infiniti designed the QX80 with luxury in mind for all three rows, and for the Autograph trim, rear climate options are configurable via a touchscreen. In addition, the available Biometric Cooling feature for the second row uses infrared to detect when a passenger is hot, making quick adjustments to the climate control entirely on its own. In addition, even third row passengers are treated to heated seats. Camera technology is used ingeniously to make driving easier, which is especially important when it comes to an SUV as large as the QX80. New camera views help drivers see around corners and under the hood, and the Journey Diary feature allows drivers to capture memorable moments from the front-facing camera, and the in-car camera. Providing luxurious audio capabilities for the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is the first Klipsch audio system in a full-size luxury SUV, with 14-speaker and 24-speaker systems available for the Pure and Luxe trims, and the Sensory and Autograph trims respectively. The latter system boasts 1,200 watts of power, roof-mounted speakers, and an 8-inch subwoofer. However, one of the 24-speaker system’s most impressive features is the Individual Audio, which uses headrest-mounted speakers to direct certain audio to just one or both front seats. For instance, navigation audio can play exclusively for the driver. Compared to the outgoing generation, cargo room increases 18% behind the second row, and 30% behind the third row, while passenger room is also increased. Power now comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter VR35DDTT V6 engine, which makes 50 more horsepower and 103 lb/ft more torque more than the previous generation, totaling 450 hp and 516 lb/ft of torque, and a 9-speed automatic transmission handles it. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available, with four-wheel drive standard on the upper trim levels. With stunning new design inspired by various Japanese philosophies and principles, and more luxury features than ever before, the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 seeks to change perceptions among the luxury SUV market, and it has the makings of a vehicle that can do just that. Starting at $82,450 for the Pure trim, and $110,595 for the Autograph, the new flagship Infiniti is expected to hit US dealers this summer. The INFINITI Vision Qe concept

Infiniti Unveils The New Vision Qe Concept Previewing Its...

With sleek designs and Japanese artistry, it hints at a luxurious, performance-focused future. It's a brave new world for Infiniti as the brand takes a bold step into the electric vehicle landscape with its Vision Qe concept. Unveiled amidst the poetic backdrop of Tokyo Bay, this fastback sedan is more than just a car; it's an epitome of Infiniti's evolved design philosophy they call "Artistry In Motion." Designed to set the stage for Infiniti's maiden voyage into the realm of all-electric sedans, the Vision Qe concept combines luxurious aesthetics with groundbreaking technology. Drawing from its Japanese heritage, the design team at Infiniti was driven by three key philosophies— "Kabuku," "Sho," and "Sui" —to sculpt this electrifying masterpiece. The bodywork is expressive, created to elicit a sense of the extraordinary and deliver an aura of speed, dynamism, and movement. Elegance meets muscle, as the car's graceful aerodynamic profile merges with sensual surfacing on the fenders, giving us a sneak peek into the high-performance all-electric drive it promises. Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti's senior vice president for global design, described the design as an abstraction of a bird in flight—effortless yet powerful. And let’s not forget those wheels. Standing on large geometrically-patterned wheels inspired by electric motor coils, the wheels add an artful and poignant touch. A gold accent on the wheels offers a tasteful contrast to the rich blue body color, which in itself is an artwork. Speaking of color, the Vision Qe is decked in a unique 'shadow blue' paint, enriched with lustrous gold highlights—a subtle nod to Infiniti's recently revamped visual identity. The car also gives a contemporary spin to Infiniti's iconic ‘double-arched’ grille, reimagined for the electric age. In lieu of a traditional grille, sculpted lines integrated within the front fascia are dramatically outlined in bright LED. Further emphasizing its luxurious intent, the car features digital piano key lighting at both ends, glowing in a rich shade of gold. The Vision Qe concept is a declaration of Infiniti's artistic and technological ambitions. From the streamlined exterior designs to its thematic color palette, every element echoes the brand's commitment to luxury and performance in the electric era. Those fortunate enough to be near Infiniti's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, can witness this beauty in person starting next month. For the rest of us, it’s a thrilling preview of what’s to come from a brand that’s continually pushing the envelope. With the Vision Qe concept, Infiniti is ready to be at the forefront of the electrification revolution in the automotive industry. View All Infinitis For Sale Image Source: Infiniti
